Street food in Argentina

ARGENTINA

Street food has been a growing food trend across the globe for the last few years.

But it in Argentina, it is rare to see people eating on the streets or carrying coffee cups on the go. The food culture in Argentina is very much a love affair. Sharing a meal is at the center of any social gathering and in particular the Asado. Asado refers to a barbecue. But the experience goes beyond the food, it is truly about shared moments with friends and family.

However, if you are on the go and need something to eat, you will not go hungry on the streets of Argentina.

Argentina’s capital city is a smorgasbord of culture, and the budget food scene proves it. From classic Argentinian choripán to culinary influences from further afield, Buenos Aires’ street scene is chock full of tasty treats.

From mom-and-pop empanada shops, menú Ejecutivo lunch specials, hole-in-the-wall grills, and cheesy Porteño pizzerias, it’s easy to taste the entire city without spending all of your pesos. Even though comida callejera (street food) doesn’t stray beyond makeshift grill carts slinging street-meat sandwiches, most of the beloved food staples can be found at any budget.
