Yemen

YEMEN

Yemen officially called the Republic of Yemen is an Arab Country in the Southwest of Asia with its capital and largest city, Sanaa.

Yemen is the 2nd largest Country in the Arabian peninsula and has a 2000km long coastline.

The country, however, has large reserves of natural gas and also earns a little by exporting crude oil, cotton, coffee, and dried and salted fish.

The culture and tradition of the country have been mainly guided by Arabian principles and laws. Yemen society and culture is slightly different and more liberal than the conventional Arabian countries.

Yemenis still practice traditional handcrafting such as silver and copper work, dagger manufacturing, carpentry, boat building, pottery, weaving and dying, wickerwork, and leather tanning.

Yemeni culture is very rich and has an ethnic appeal. Yemeni society and culture have played a major role in the shaping up Arabic music and art and it still continues to dominate the Arabic cultural scene.
