FAQs
How do I know that I have been accepted as a volunteer?
You will receive an e-mail offering you a position in early May 2020. This email will include your orientation information. If we do not hear from you, we may offer your shift to another person. Volunteers must make sure that they have a reliable system for collecting e-mail and telephone messages.
I can’t attend the orientation session I signed up for – can I attend a different one?
Yes. We will email you in the beginning of May confirming your attendance at the session you initially signed up for on the volunteer form. You can let us know then if you would like to attend a different one. However, we have limited space at each session, and volunteers who initially signed up for the session will have priority.
What if I am unable to attend any of the volunteer orientation sessions?
Orientation is mandatory. If you are unable to attend an orientation session, unfortunately you cannot volunteer.
How do I find out my exact volunteer role and shift time?
Shifts are in 4-hour and 8-hour segments. These shifts may be before, during, or after the festival (as you provide your availability) and would be assigned by the Volunteer Coordinator who will work with you to establish a workable schedule. Each volunteer will receive food tickets based on the number of hours they volunteer. After you fill out the volunteer form, we will email you in the beginning of May confirming your exact role and shift time. We will cover the responsibilities of each role during the orientation session.
Can I request a specific shift?
You cannot request a specific shift and we will try to accommodate your request, but it is not guaranteed.
What does volunteering get me?
All volunteers are granted 8 free meal tickets to use to any of our food vendors, after the shift is over.
What should I wear during my volunteer shift?
During your shift, you must wear your volunteer vest (which you will receive the day of the festival) and closed-toe shoes.
I can’t volunteer anymore! What should I do and whom should I contact?
Please e-mail info@aroundtheworldfestival.com as soon as you know there is a change in your schedule. We appreciate your timeliness, as your shift is staffed only by you and we will have to work to find someone to fill it.
